    Affordable Rental Housing Advisory Council:

We wanted to ensure you were aware MBA recently joined a broad coalition letter calling on lawmakers to enact policies to increase the nation's housing supply – and lower costs dampening housing affordability.  The letter outlined an extensive number of bipartisan proposals geared towards expanding supply while lowering related housing delivery costs. A coalition press release highlighting the release of the letter can be found here.

Specifically, the letter calls on Congress to support and pass the:

      • Yes In My Back Yard (YIMBY) Act
      •  Housing Supply and Affordability Act
      • HOME Investment Partnerships Reauthorization and Improvement Act
      • Build More Housing Near Transit Act
      • The Choice in Affordable Housing Act
      • Manufactured Housing Affordability and Energy Efficiency Act
      • The Rural Housing Service Reform Act
      • Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act
      • Workforce Housing Tax Credit Act

The letter also encourages efforts to:

      • Eliminate Exclusionary Zoning and Harmful Land Use Policies
      • Incentivize the Conversion of Underutilized Commercial Properties
      • Revitalize and Enhance Opportunity Zones to Incentivize the Rehabilitation of Housing Units.

MBA will continue to work with coalition partners to encourage Congress and the administration to address persistent housing affordability challenges highlighted within the letter.
